Welcome to Safe Water Training. We operate training centres based in Cong on Lough Corrib which is situated on the border of Galway and Mayo as well as Banagher in Offaly on the River Shannon. We are focused on providing Powerboat Training Courses, Inland Motorboat Training Courses, Consultancy, Safety and Event Management in the maritime sector in Ireland.
Safe Water Training is an Irish Sailing Recognised Training Centre delivering certified Powerboat Training Courses and Inland Motorboat Training Courses.
We operate a Powerboat and Inland Motorboat Training Centre from the village of Cong which straddles the border between Galway and Mayo. You'll get to explore Lough Corrib, learning how to navigate around the islands and enjoy the amazing surrounds that Galway and Mayo have to offer.
We also operate a Powerboat and Inland Motorboat Training centre from the town of Banagher in Offaly which is right on the River Shannon. Here we explore the River Shannon and Lough Derg during our training courses and experiecne the Shannon Navigation system.
Our Powerboat Courses cater for beginners right up to the most advanced levels, which we operate from coastal locations in Galway, Mayo and further afield, right around Ireland. Our Powerboat Courses will allow you to apply for the International Certificate of Competency (ICC) and the Commercial Endorsement also.
Here at Safe Water Training we also provide Own Boat Tuition, Staff Training, Search and Rescue Training and Consultancy in all things marine related. The Safe Water Training team have decades of operational and instructing experience behind them and are committed to working with our clients and partners to provide the best service possible, keeping you safe afloat.

Safe Water Training is an Irish Sailing Recognised Training Centre for the delivery of the National Powerboat Training Scheme in Ireland. Irish Sailing is the National Governing Body for Powerboating in Ireland.
We operate our Powerboat Training Courses from our training centre in the village of Cong which straddles the border between Galway and Mayo. During your Powerboat Training Course you'll get to explore Lough Corrib, learning how to navigate around the islands and enjoy the amazing surrounds that Galway and Mayo have to offer.
We offer a range of Powerboat Training Courses including the Introduction to Powerboating, National Powerboat Certificate, Intermediate Powerboat Certificate, Safety Boat Certificate, Coastal Navigation for Small Boats Certificate and the Advanced Powerboat Certificate.
Here at Safe Water Training we also provide a pathway for those interested in working towards the Powerboat Instructor qualification offering Powerboat Pre-Entry Assessments , Powerboat Instructor Courses and Powerboat Instructor Conversion courses at all levels on the Irish Sailing Powerboat Training Courses scheme.
Hiring a boat abroad is a great way to have fun when you're on holiday! To do this you'll need the 'ICC'.
The National Powerboat Certificate allows you to apply for the 'International Certificate of Competency' (ICC). The aim of the ICC is to provide boat owners and people wishing to charter boats abroad with an internationally recognised document certifying their competence to skipper a boat for recreational use.
The National Powerboat Certificate also allows you to apply for the 'Commercial Endorsement'.The Commercial Endorsement qualifies you to act as master or crew on vessels holding Passenger Boat licences as required by the Department of Transport.
The Irish Sailing National Powerboat Certificate is a 2 day course covering the skills and knowledge required to safely skipper a powerboat keeping yourself and your crew safe while afloat. This is considered the 'Driving Licence' for Boats in Ireland. Come and join us at our Powerboat Training Centre in Cong which straddles the border between Galway and Mayo and explore the fantastic Lough Corrib with us during your Powerboat course.

Safe Water Training also own and operate Corrib Safari which provides boat tours on Lough Corrib, private RIB charters and commercial services with our 9 metre RIB that holds a licence from the Deptartment of Transport.
