Irish Sailing Powerboat Training Courses
Safe Water Training work with Irish Sailing who are the National Governing Body for Powerboat Training Courses in Ireland. Irish Sailing are responsible for the issuing of accreditation to training centres to allow them to offer certified Powerboat Training Courses on their behalf. We undergo rigorous checks to ensure our safety standards, equipment, Instructor qualifications, First Aid certificates, Garda Vetting clearance are all up to date as well as our inspecting our policies and procedures are current and of the high standard required in order to gain, and retain, this accreditation to offer Irish Sailing Certified Powerboat Training Courses.
We operate our Powerboat Training Courses from our training centre in the village of Cong which straddles the border between Galway and Mayo. During your Powerboat Training Course you'll get to explore Lough Corrib, learning how to navigate around the islands and enjoy the amazing surrounds that Galway and Mayo have to offer.
We offer a range of Powerboat Training Courses including the Introduction to Powerboating, National Powerboat Certificate, Intermediate Powerboat Certificate, Safety Boat Certificate, Coastal Navigation for Small Boats Certificate and the Advanced Powerboat Certificate.
We also provide a pathway for those interested in working towards the Powerboat Instructor qualification offering Powerboat Pre-Entry Assessments , Powerboat Instructor Courses and Powerboat Instructor Conversion courses at all levels on the Irish Sailing Powerboat Training Courses scheme.

A 2 day Powerboat course designed to teach the skills and knowledge required for those working in environments where they will be providining safety cover to boats, water users and swimmers.
A 2 day Powerboat course covering the skills and knowledge required to safely skipper a powerboat keeping yourself and your crew safe while afloat. This is considered the 'Driving Licence' for Boats.
This is a Shorebased navigation course course run over 2 days, or over 4 evenings, teaching the navigation skills required to safely navigate a boat by day and night in preparation for the Advanced Powerboat Certificate.

Hiring a boat abroad is a great way to have fun when you're on holiday! To do this you'll need the 'ICC'.
The National Powerboat Certificate allows you to apply for the 'International Certificate of Competency' (ICC). The aim of the ICC is to provide boat owners and people wishing to charter boats abroad with an internationally recognised document certifying their competence to skipper a boat for recreational use.
The National Powerboat Certificate also allows you to apply for the 'Commercial Endorsement'.The Commercial Endorsement qualifies you to act as master or crew on vessels holding Passenger Boat licences as required by the Department of Transport.
The Irish Sailing National Powerboat Certificate is a 2 day course covering the skills and knowledge required to safely skipper a powerboat keeping yourself and your crew safe while afloat. This is considered the 'Driving Licence' for Boats in Ireland.
